Introduction
The first game of the tournament had me facing the undead hordes of the Soulblight Gravelords in Feral Foray. The enemy deployment consisted of a couple of heroes and some Felbats.
Battle round 1
I cautiously advanced, with the Daemonettes crashing into the Felbats on the right flank. I had the same intention on the left, to assassinate the necromancer, but he redeployed 6 backwards, evading my charge. I had the 3 monsters do Ferocious Advance.
On their turn, the vampires advanced...
... and then the undead clawed their way out of the dirt! Suddenly, the numbers game had turned against me.
Not to mention that the undead made 5x 9" charges.
The Daemonettes on the left and the Plaguebearers on the right were annihilated. The Horrors were decimated but the Great Unclean One was pulled into combat and murdered all the zombies, which then came back at the end of the turn. The hero Daemonettes on the right held on, but lost the objective, thus the Soulblight achieving Conquer.
Battle round 2
The Soulblight had priority and continued hammering my lines. More undead sprang from the graveyards.
The last Daemonette died to morale.
On my turn, I struck back with summoned Horrors and Be'lakor charging into Radukar and his Grave Guard. He killed them for Broken ranks but got mauled in return.
Battle round 3
The undead moved in but failed to kill Be'lakor with all the zombies/spells/heroes.
At this point we ran out of time, as the games had a 3.5 hour limit. The TO ruled that we would take the score of the last completed battle round, which was battle round 2. We had both held the objectives and completed 2 battle tactics, but I did Ferocious Advance with 3 monsters in the first turn so I had a 1 point advantage. Victory for Chaos!
